He has appeared in over 100 Hindi films and has earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards, Padma Shri, Order of Arts and Letters, and the Legion of Honour. Media outlets often describe him as one of the most successful film stars in the world.
Khan’s Bollywood debut came in 1992 with the musical romance Deewana, and he gained initial recognition for his villainous roles in Baazigar (1993) and Darr (1993). He later became known for starring in iconic romantic films such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001). He also earned critical acclaim for his performances in films like Devdas (2002), Swades (2004), Chak De! India (2007), and My Name Is Khan (2010). His success extended to comedies and action films, including Om Shanti Om (2007), Chennai Express (2013), and Happy New Year (2014). After a brief hiatus, Khan made a successful comeback with the 2023 action thrillers Pathaan and Jawan, both of which became among the highest-grossing Indian films.
Khan is the co-chairman of Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries and co-owner of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders and the CPL team Trinbago Knight Riders. Known as “Brand SRK” for his numerous endorsements and business ventures, he is also active in philanthropy, providing healthcare, disaster relief, and supporting children’s education. He was honored by UNESCO in 2011 and the World Economic Forum in 2018 for his charitable efforts.
