Bio: Zaira Wasim (born 23 October 2000) is a former Indian actress known for her work in Hindi films. Despite her short career, she received numerous accolades, including a Filmfare Award and a National Film Award, and was honored with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in 2017.
Wasim made her acting debut in the biographical sports film Dangal (2016), where she portrayed a young Geeta Phogat. The film became the highest-grossing Indian film, earning over ₹2,000 crore ($300 million) globally. She followed this with Secret Superstar (2017), playing an aspiring singer in another box-office hit, which became the highest-grossing Indian film featuring a female protagonist. Both films were produced by Aamir Khan Productions and earned her critical acclaim, including the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Dangal and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics) for Secret Superstar.
Wasim’s final film was The Sky Is Pink (2019), for which she was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2019, she announced her retirement from acting.
