Annapoorani Movie Synopsis:

“Annapoorani,” the 75th film of Nayanthara, revolves around the central character of Annapoorani, enacted by Nayanthara. The film is about a woman named Annapoorani, who hails from a traditional Brahmin family in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu. She aspires to be the best chef in India but faces problems due to caste and religious preferences. The movie is all about how she relocates out of her comfort zone, faces societal norms, and competes in a cooking competition.

Controversy:

Barely a fortnight after its theatrical release on December 1, “Annapoorani” ran into controversy. Two right-wing outfits objected to the film, alleging that it hurt Hindu sentiments. Netflix, where the film started streaming on December 29 eventually took down the film amid the controversy. An FIR was filed against the film by Ramesh Solanki, found of Hindu IT cell. The controversy was due to the inappropriate use of Lord Ram and a hunting context from the Ramayana12.
