Plot Summary
The Panchak concept is treated as inauspicious in Vedic astrology, and the film opens with the death of the father of Tarun Nain when such a period was operational. A certain pandit suggests a ritual where five statues made of flour are burnt in order to shoo away evil energies. Tarun refuses to do this and hence starts a chain of spooky, ominous events disrupting the wedding of his cousin Vikram.
A Wedding Story Movie Review
A Wedding Story has received mixed reviews from critics. Though the premise of the film was interesting and the atmospheric visuals really worked, there was some inconsistency in developing the narrative and scares of the film. Whereas the first half of the movie does tense moments and explores every eerie atmosphere of the place, the second half completely loses momentum with each other misplaced scenes and plot not taken to an end.
Vaibhav Tatwawadi and Mukti Mohan are good; both of them bring in a lot to their respective roles. Akshay Anand and Monica Chaudhary, in supporting roles, do quite alright to bring this piece together.
Cinematography by Supratim Bhol is apt with the genre and is elevated by Sucheeta Bhattacharjee’s music. Still, a scattered screenplay and hurried narrative spoil the overall experience.
Conclusion
With all its flaws, A Wedding Story is worth sitting through, at least for fans of horror. It has a unique concept going for it, and some good performances.
