Storyline:
Certainly! Let’s get into the review of “Kakuda,” a horror-comedy directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and starring Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saqib Salim1234.
Kakuda Movie Plot Summary:
“Kakuda” takes us to a village haunted by a curse. Each house in the village has two doors, and a man living in each house must leave the smaller door open at the same time every evening. Failure to do so sees Kakuda—the malevolent spirit—leaving his mark on the man’s back, killing him. It is under these inauspicious circumstances that newlywed couple Indira and Sunny run into Kakuda’s wrath, and it begins a countdown to Sunny’s last day on earth. Joining the fray is ghostbuster Victor, played by Riteish Deshmukh, who comes armed with the talent of communicating with spirits. There is also Indira’s perennially morose sister, played by Sonakshi Sinha in a double role, who oscillates between sleepwalking and snarling.
Kakuda Movie Script Analysis:
The idea of the film is really exciting, more so with the second revelation that Kakuda preys only on men. However, the execution makes a hash of this. It could have been a great feminist film, but it gets too predictable. The setup at the beginning is exciting enough, but from then onward, there is no inspiration left in the plot, and no depth. The evil spirit design, lifted straight from Sarpotdar’s previous film “Munjya,” is a further letdown.
Kakuda Movie Star Performances:
Sonakshi Sinha: Despite her recent strong performances, Sonakshi struggles here. This film doesn’t do justice to her talent.
Riteish Deshmukh: Known for making the best of bad films, Deshmukh can’t salvage this one either.
Overall Verdict: “Kakuda” is an average below watch that is going to leave the movie lovers high and dry. Though Sinha and Deshmukh keep you invested for quite some time, the climax fails badly. It will work best as a casual watch with family and friends, but nothing more.
“Kakuda” is a mindless horror-comedy neither making anyone laugh nor scaring them. The kind of bizarre narrative that it tells leaves you in plain disbelief at how such films get made and released.
