Samadhana Pusthakam Movie Review
Performances
Siju Wilson sparkles with his marvelous portrayal of Alex, from the widely curious teenager to a responsible grown-up. Leona Lishoy shines as the school principal, pretty much sustaining the issues of modern-day moral policing. All the rest of the supporting cast, consisting of Mathew Thomas and Veena Nair, are good in adding the depth required to the emotional value of the movie.
Direction and Screenplay
Hats off to Raveesh Nath for handling a sensitive subject so sensitively and humoringly. But the screenplay, penned jointly by Arun D. Jose and Raveesh Nath along with C.P. Sivan, does not always hold your attention. The intention of making the film is great, but the execution lacks punch at times to keep audiences hooked.
Cinematography and Music
Satheesh Kurup’s cinematography is lush, be it in the portrayal of the past or the present, adding to the film’s nostalgic value. Complementing that is Manikandan Ayyappa’s music, adding emotional heft to many scenes in the film.
Critical Reception
Samadhana Pusthakam” received mixed reviews from critics. While the film’s message and performances were appreciated by some, others pointed out the predictability in the narrative and occasional lack of engagement. Again, despite these shortcomings, an attempt at making people aware of sex education through this film is commendable.
